Re: Appy Football
Someone will take the program, Goforth took the basketball, are ya gonna belittle him too? Just run down the whole bunch, lets get'em started. You might even get Tom out of retirement , you are closing the school again, also I noticed. Let's see what a guy that played a different kind of basketball can do with what Appy has for players. Got ANOTHER gym for PV and Coeburn, when are we gonna get one at Appy Elem? Let them play on the short goals forever. Politics are so smart, when you make a mistake of the proper kind it sounds so well and good when you fix it, not like you are leaving JJK playing in a gym that won't hold their fans or leaving the programs at Appy out, and the elementary school has never been mentioned for closing.

Re: Appy Football
I dont know how safe it is Counts. I remember a particular fieldhouse "supervisor" in Clintwood who absolutely put kids through hell. It was all I could do many days just to crawl out of there. Coach Counts was the maniac's name....

Appalachia is not exactly a desirable place to live these days.

aint that just an a s s hole thing to say.

Re: Appy Football
It's common sense. Just look at the real estate ads in the paper and Appalachia probably doesn't have a house for sell over $150K and that's still in an inflated market. I'm sure hanging out at a gas station is fun and all but what else is there in Appalachia besides the high school?

Payless, Double Kwik, Appco. That's about it.

The gyms at PV and Coeburn were a waste of money but it's the school board making the decisions so what do you expect? The fact that they approved a seating capacity of 500 for both gyms should tell you their not exactly Ivy League graduates. As for Kelly's gym, it's true their gym is small but so is their attendance. There's not a lot of support for the athletic programs in Wise and I doubt they've had to turn people away for games in the past five years.

Re: Appy Football
So its not a booming real estate town, truth be known most of the houses are old and there is the risk of a methane explosion. Otherwise, Im sure there are plenty of people on here that find appalachia to be a nice place to live and I respect that. You can look at Abingdon and say, well norton isnt very desirable because Abingdon's real estate market is booming, yet most people are very satisfied living in norton. Besides, appalachia sure beats a crappy town like wise any day of the week.

Re: Appy Football
some folks on here will never learn to have respect for hard working people....and the town they live in

Re: Appy Football
Someone from Norton calling Wise a crappy town... LMAO
Basically, all of the towns in SWVA have their eye sores. All of them are coal-dingy, full of old buildings, businesses that have closed down..etc. Wise County towns aren't exactly travel-brochure material, but the folks are good for the most part.

Re: Appy Football
I was joking Indian Dad, I just thought it was messed up to put Appy down like that.
